love this donghua.. altho i do not wish for him to go to demon stream this is prolly what will end up happening at least for a while.. This donghua is a step in the right direction for the chinese animation industry.. at least thats what i believe. Its not a perfect show but it introduces complexities that were previously missing. Im super excited for the future of this show

Agreed. As frustrating as this MC (still) is for me, I can't deny the break from your typical alpha genius MC is what gives this donghua a more mature/realistic vibe. The emphasis is more character rather than cultivation oriented, and the dark underbelly that permeates it is really alluring. It gives me the same feels as Fanren, although not nearly as complex.

I was a little confused by the events of this ep tho. Why in the world did the Sect Master continue with ZXF's trial while being invaded lol? Did he really think peons could have breached their barrier? My bet is that Qing Yun somehow prevails or escapes because their Truth Stream brainwashing is the narrative intent, which would get sidelined if he joined the Demon Sect. I see him getting broken psychologically, going red pill and leaving Qing Yun to follow his own cultivation path that bridges both powers. But hey I'm usually wrong LOL.

Its a matter of keeping the sect rules and honor in front of the other sects i think thats why the sect master returned and gave that sentence.. which is stupid since there are 3 allied sect masters there so basically in the attack the monk and the other mouthy guy should help but i suspect there is more to it and the other 2 are colluding with either the elder that attacked the sect master or the demon stream or even both... it might turn out this was simply badly written.. i hope not tho. also for me the best outcome would be for him to somehow escape in the confusion since im always rooting for the MC but i very much doubt that will happen. most likely he will be captured by the demon stream if they are victorious or the truth stream if they win. either way his suffering will not be small...it may be that this is where he gets broken..or one of the girls die or something.. at any rate im sure nothing good will happen to him. As you i also find some similarities between this and Fanren but it has a long road ahead till it reaches it. The feeling i get from Fanren is of melancholy and hopelessness (in the way that all these cultivators are pityfull creatures that cant easily form connections with others.. imo that is the overall theme of Fanren) while from Jade dynasty i get a different feeling more like uncertainty, anxiety, sadness and foolishness in the way that all these ideological wars are simply stupid and they kill eachother in a cycle of revenge that will never end unless the MC will unite all the streams.. doubtful that will happen tho

but which one is the dark path? so far the way its been shown it looks like the demon stream is on the good side.. but im sure thats not true either, its called demon stream for a reason. Its like in real life if 2 countries go to war each of them believe themselves the be good and defending their country but in reality neither is good since they both kill and most times they kill for stupid reasons like resources or ideologies not that there is any real good reason to kill but thats how humans are i guess

The MC was raised by that sect at a young age, probably around 4-6 years. It is easy to doctrine a young child and when you grow up and told what you believe isn’t the complete truth than that clashes within your beliefs or taught beliefs. MC is still 14-16 years, still impressionable. Neither side is good, they just fighting about their ideologies and beliefs, so it does not make either party correct. It all depends on how they go about their pursuit to enforce their ideologies.
